An Animal Control officer investigated a report of neglect on Dunlap Road just after 10 am.
A witness said someone had a large pig housed in a dog cage. When an Animal Control officer arrived at the home, they advised the pig’s owner that the animal needed a larger case.
A Humane agent followed up with the pig’s owners two days later. By that time, they had relocated the piggy from the crate to a large kennel with more room.
The humane agent devised a plan to follow up with the owners and provide them with education and resources for keeping a pet pig.
Pigs have become increasingly popular as pets, but pig ownership comes with challenges.
While owning a pet pig can be a unique and rewarding experience, there are also several challenges that come with it. One of the biggest challenges is their size – pigs can grow to be quite large and require a lot of space to move around and exercise.
They can also be quite destructive if they become bored or don’t have enough stimulation. Pigs are also social animals and need to be around other pigs or animals, which can be challenging if you don’t have the space or resources to accommodate multiple animals.
Additionally, pigs have specific dietary needs and require a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, and grains. It’s important to do your research and understand the commitment that comes with owning a pet pig before deciding to bring one into your home.
