Officers were called in to do two welfare checks in half an hour, and one of those ended in tragedy.
At 11 am, a concerned daughter told officers she was worried because her father was due at her house and hadn’t shown up.
Additionally, the man wasn’t answering the phone. She said relatives had knocked on the door of his Wayne Hills Apartment with no answer. The man’s car was parked at his residence.
Officers made entry into the home and discovered that the man was deceased. Police notified the Scioto County Coroner’s Office who fixed the man’s time of death at approximately 8 pm the night before.
Just half an hour later, the landlord of a 7th Street resident asked officers to check on the man. There was a foul odor coming from the property, and no one had seen the man in a few days. The landlord let officers into the home. They searched the residence, but nobody was home.
Later that night, a worried mom asked officers to check on her son after she had a bad feeling about his safety. She told police he was staying in a camper under the overpass on Gallia.
Officers found the camper and spoke to its owner. He said it had broken down and he would be back in the morning. He said he didn’t know of anyone staying in his camper.
