A worried relative contacted 9-1-1 to request a welfare check in West Portsmouth. They said they hadn’t heard from a family member, so they sent other family members out to check on him. However, he did not answer the door.
A deputy responded to the scene and spotted what appeared to be a deceased person inside. The deputy forced entry and called for a squad. EMS confirmed the victim was deceased.

The deputy spoke with the Coroner, who released the deceased to a funeral home. A first responder hit a parked car at the scene, but no one was injured.
