Body Discovered on 4th Street – Coroner Investigates
Just before noon, a 4th Street woman contacted 911 to say she couldn’t wake up her boyfriend and feared he was deceased.
Officers and EMS responded to the scene and confirmed the man was dead. Police contacted the coroner or declared a time of death and sent a coroner’s office vehicle to take possession of the deceased.
Medics returned to the scene to assist the coroner’s office personnel. Police took information for a report.
Woman Arrested After Owner Tracks Down Stolen Phone
Around 4:30 am, the owner of a stolen phone contacted police to report they’d track their missing phone to an address in the 1000 block of Ruhlman.
Officers headed to that location and then to a Mound Street home where they took a woman into custody.
Police booked her into the Scioto County Jail.
Thief Caught in the Act on Gallia Street
Officers responded to a report of a man attempting to break into a building in the 800 block of Gallia Street just after 3 am.
Police took the man into custody for attempted grand theft auto, but he refused to identify himself. Officers eventually identified him and booked him into the Scioto County Jail.
He appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court facing charges of disorderly conduct, obstruction of official business, and resisting arrest.
