Body of missing Ohio boy found in chimney
The body of a missing 14-year-old boy has been recovered from the chimney of an unoccupied house just across the street from his home in Port Clinton, Ohio. Harley Dilly was last seen in the early morning hours of December 20 walking to school.
The body was discovered during a re-canvassing of Harley’s neighborhood on Monday afternoon.
Port Clinton Police Chief Rob Hickman said the house was summer home, which is common in the lakeside town. The house is currently undergoing renovation and had been unoccupied.
Hickman struggled to hold back tears as he explained that the house was checked during the initial search for the boy but there was no sign of forced entry and the doors were double-locked and windows secured. There was a lockbox on the back door. Since multiple people can have access to a lockbox, police decided to enter the house to check.

Harley’s coat and glasses were discovered on the second floor next to a chimney.
His body was found in the chimney. It appears to be an accident and no foul play in suspected.
Police believe he climbed an antenna tower to the room and entered the chimney. The chimney was approximately 9 by 13 inches in size and police believe he became stuck.
Harley’s body was sent to nearby Lucas County for an autopsy and the investigation is still ongoing.
