New Boston seeks officers

Talk about gutsy—or just plain reckless! An 18-year-old from Wheelersburg is cooling his heels in jail after an outrageous Saturday morning brawl right in the New Boston Police Station parking lot!

It all kicked off around 8:30 AM when officers spotted a shifty-looking suspect lurking on Rhodes Avenue. Before they could even question him, the guy made a bold move—trying to steal a car from the police parking lot!

When an officer stepped in to stop him, the suspect knocked away a Taser, then unleashed a brutal attack, punching the cop in the face and head. And he wasn’t done—after that, he turned on another person in the lot, trying to swipe their vehicle too!

Backup poured in from Portsmouth Police and Scioto County Sheriff’s deputies. Meanwhile, the officer and a bystander fought to keep the wild teen under control until help arrived.

Once restrained, the suspect—identified as Kaleb Ruth, 18—was hauled off to the hospital under suspicion of being high on drugs. After doctors cleared him, Ruth was booked into Scioto County Jail on a laundry list of serious charges.

The Charges:

His bond? A hefty $120,000!

Ruth was set to appear in court Monday morning, but this case is far from over. With a grand jury review pending, even more charges could be on the way!

Stay tuned as this wild story unfolds!
