A Wheelersburg man accepted a plea deal on child rape charges. Shannon Bobst, 22, was initially charged with four counts of rape and one of gross sexual imposition for raping a nine-year-old child.
His trial was set to begin in April, but he agreed to enter a guilty plea. That plea bargain avoids a trial that could be traumatic for the young victim. With the terms of the agreement, Bobst will be eligible for parole in 15 years and could be released when he’s just 37 years old. He could have faced life in prison if convicted on all four counts of rape.
Bobst was busted by the Scioto County Special Victims Unit last year after CPS contacted authorities to report an assault on a child. Read the original article here.
Detective Sergeant Jodi Conkel led the investigation that resulted in Bobst’s arrest.
