It was a routine traffic stop—until it wasn’t! Portsmouth Police pulled over a vehicle near Aldi Foods on Gallia just after 6:30 p.m. and struck the jackpot—a wanted man behind the wheel!
Turns out, Jeffery Bender had an open warrant for a domestic violence case dating all the way back to August 15. But that wasn’t the only trouble he was in. Officers took a peek inside the vehicle and found some suspicious items, leading them to impound the car.
To top it off, when they booked him into the Scioto County Jail, he allegedly tried to sneak in some drugs—big mistake! Now he’s facing even more charges for attempting to bring contraband into a detention facility.
Moral of the story? If you’re on the run, maybe don’t get pulled over near the discount grocery store!
