Officers performed a welfare check on a 15-year-old child after a member of a refugee committee contacted them to say a young teen had been abandoned by her sponsor after crossing the Texas border with Mexico. The caller also said the child was not enrolled in school.
Officers waited for a translator and then went to check on the girl.
Police said the girl was living with family members and appeared to be fine.
