Jackson, Ohio police want you to know that the child at the center of an abuse investigation is in a safe place. A recent Facebook post alleged a serious case of child abuse in Jackson County. That post took off like a rocket online. Now, Jackson police are speaking out about the accusations that caused a viral sensation.
Police said they’ve received numerous inquiries about that case. Here’s what they say really went down:
The Abuse Allegation
On May 13, 2020 at 8:11 P.M. Jackson Police Department received a call to from Holzer Hospital in Jackson, Ohio, in reference to a potential child abuse case.
- The Jackson Police department was notified.
- Officers were immediately dispatched to investigate.
- Jackson County Child Protective Services were immediately notified.
Then Jackson police and CPS workers started a joint investigation. The child in question was immediately placed in what police all “a safe environment.” Police said all of this happened before the Facebook post was made.
Don’t Jump To Conclusions
The Jackson Police Department said it is still getting calls from concerned citizens who’ve read the post. They want to make sure everyone know that they know all about the investigations.
“Although we appreciate the concerns shared by many, we are well aware of this post. It has been handled by professionals in a manner prescribed by law. We cannot release any details of this case and discourage anyone from jumping to conclusions, taking matters into their own hands, threatening any party of this case. Anyone with pertinent information for this case is encouraged to call the Jackson Police Department.”

After the investigation was conducted, they discovered that the child had been placed for adoption with a relative of the mother’s. SCDN spoke exclusively with the adoptive mother who had to deal with police and CPS workers coming to her home.
