Commissioner Encourages Early Voting In Scioto County, Ohio

Scioto County, Ohio Commissioner Bryan Davis encouraged voters not to put off casting their ballots in the November election. Speaking at Tuesday’s Scioto County Commissioners Meeting, he said that in-person voting will start at the Scioto County Courthouse on October 6. The scheduled hours are 8 am to 4:30 pm.  Davis also said that voters should be able to vote in-person at their local precincts on Election Day. “We have been told there will be voting at the precincts. They are working really hard at the Board of Elections. This is a presidential election, so there will be a lot more people voting.”

Davis suggested that voting early is a great option. “If you want to vote in person, one of the easiest things you can do is vote early. It’s very easy. Very quick. Five minutes max. They are very quick. You walk in, they give you your card. If you’re computer savvy, it’s even quicker. If you’re not, they are there to help you.”

Don’t Put Off Voting

The commissioner also encouraged those who can’t make it to the polls in person to request an absentee ballot. “If you’re out of town. If you’re sick or concerned about COVID.” Davis said voters can request absentee ballots online or come down to the courthouse.  “I would recommend you do that as soon as possible. Don’t wait for a week before the election. Chances are your ballot will not be counted. Please don’t let that happen to you.”

Davis encouraged voters not to put off their civic duty. “Your vote is very important. Doing it in person is the most expedient way, but if you can’t, do it soon. Do it quick. Don’t wait, don’t procrastinate, don’t say I’ll get to it later. Do not let later be the week before the election. We want your vote counted.”
