David’s Cookies has issued a recall for 960 units of its “Marketside Chocolate Chip Explosion Cake” (lot # BS23212), which were sold in Walmart stores nationwide. This recall comes as a result of mislabeling, where the product was inaccurately labeled as “Marketside Chocolate Chip Explosion Cake,” failing to indicate peanut as a key ingredient and omitting the peanut allergen warning on the packaging.
The affected product is packaged in a 7-ounce, clear plastic container, clearly marked with lot # BS23212 on the top. (See photo below)
If consumers have any concerns regarding illness or injury related to the consumption of this product, it is strongly advised to contact a physician immediately.
An investigation into the matter revealed that the issue occurred during the labeling and packaging stage. In cooperation with Walmart, all distribution centers and store registers have been instructed to block the sale of both “Marketside Ultimate Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake” and “Marketside Chocolate Chip Explosion Cake” until a comprehensive investigation is concluded by David’s Cookies and Walmart.
Consumers who have purchased the 7.9 oz “Marketside Chocolate Chip Explosion Cake,” lot # BS23212, are urged to return the product to the place of purchase to receive a full refund. For any inquiries or concerns, consumers can contact David’s Cookies at 800-500-2800. Customer service hours are from 8:30 am to 5:00 am, DST, Eastern time zone.
