Denise Yvette Elizabeth (Potter) Bell, 79, of Portsmouth, died Saturday, October 18, 2025 at SOMC Hospice following a extended illness. She was born on April 13, 1946 in Lie’ge Belgium to the late Homer Potter and Jenny (DuPont) Thompson. Denise is survived by her husband, Charles “Fred” Bell with whom she just celebrated 53 years of marriage with on October 17. She is also survived by her son, Charles “Chuck” Bell (Mary Justice) of West Portsmouth, two daughters, Amanda Pollitt of Portsmouth and Tina Clark (Matt Locher) of West Portsmouth, her grandchildren; Kaitlyn Bell, Kaci Bell, Charles “Charlie” Pollitt, Maci Clark, Maggie Mae Clark, Tyler Jackson (Miranda), Adrian Guerrero, Jacob Guerrero (Cassie Potts) and a great-grandson, Alexavier Jacob Guerrero. She is also survived by her sister, Jackie Felty of Greenup, KY, a brother Michael Potter (Mary) of Barnesville, Sister-in-law, Diane Potter of Greenup, Brother-in-law, Albert “Paul” Bell (Mary) of Portsmouth, Sister and brother-in-law, Ruby “Missie” and Lynn Tracy of Kingsville. As well as many other family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, James “Jim” Thompson, her in-laws, Charles “Rex” and Clara “Sis” Bell, two brothers, Tim and Terry Potter, two brother in laws, Walter “Jake” Felty and James Bell.
Denise exuded so much love on not only her family members but her friends as well. She will be greatly missed by many but will remain a bright light for all!
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth, with Pastor Ralph Clay officiating. Burial will follow at Scioto Burial Park in McDermott. A visitation for family and friends will be starting from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Denise had an amazing village of care takers at SOMC Hospice and the family would ask that any donations be sent there in her honor.
