A man contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office to report that he had located his missing girlfriend. He feared she was being held against her will at a Swauger Valley Road home.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they spoke to the woman in private. She admitted to relapsing but said she was not being held against her will. She said she had turned off her phone so her family would stop calling her.
A deputy offered to give the woman a ride out of the area, but she declined. They asked the woman if she wanted officers to caution her boyfriend not to contact her, but she said that wasn’t necessary. Officers let the man know that his girlfriend said she was fine.
Officers did another welfare check on Liberty Avenue after a brother told them he hadn’t been able to contact his sister. He said he was worried because she said a man had threatened her.
When officers located the woman, she said she was fine and did not want to talk to her brother.
