An officer responding to a theft call got an unpleasant surprise that required a trip to the hospital.

Just before 5 p.m., the officer headed to 6th Street to investigate a report of stolen tools. The victim said they believed they had located some of the tools at a local pawn shop.

While the officer was on the scene, one of the victim’s several small dogs bit the office. After completing the paperwork, the officer headed to SOMC for treatment.

There was another incident involving dogs on Poplar Street. A caller reported that a loose dog kept chasing children at the bus stop. They said when they tried to speak to the owner, he came to the door with a gun.

An animal control officer made contact with the dog’s owner, who was alleged to be a city employee, and the owner promised to handle the issue.
