The Scioto County Dog Warden contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report two dogs had chewed through a door on Shepherd Avenue, just outside of Sciotoville, and that there was a car in the driveway. They asked officers to do a welfare check on the resident.
The Dog Warden said their agency would take care of the dogs. Officers discovered the door to the home open and a dog inside. However, it appeared that the home was vacant, and the dogs had been left behind.
Officers also investigated a report that a large dog was out on a porch in a small crate with no food or water. The caller said she called the Scioto County Dog Warden, but they told her they didn’t have jurisdiction in the area and she needed to call the Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies arrived, they spotted the kennel, but there was no dog in it. They spoke with the owner, who said the dog was okay and back inside the house.
South Street residents called 911 at 9 pm to report a woman was driving back and forth in front of their home and accusing them of stealing her dog.
The woman also called 911 to report the people in the house stole her dog. However, she called back 15 minutes later to cancel the police because she said the people returned her dog.
