A woman fled her home barefoot and nearly naked with her 3-year-old child in tow, triggering a major response from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and ending with a man in cuffs after a ditch-side pursuit.
The dramatic situation began around 3:22 p.m. in Rarden, when a bystander reported a woman in a sports bra and boxer shorts, clutching her child and asking for help. She told multiple witnesses she had been assaulted by her boyfriend and was trying to escape.
Deputies located the suspect—Jacob Thomas—driving a blue Nissan. After a brief search and vehicle stop, Thomas was arrested without incident.
According to the official call summary from the Sheriff’s Office, the woman was given medical attention and safe housing, while Thomas was evaluated and booked into the Scioto County Jail and charged with Domestic Violence.

Why This Matters: Domestic violence doesn’t always happen behind closed doors. In a similar case, a woman fled to a neighbor’s house in nearly identical fashion last year. The signs are often loud—and visible.
The Final Analysis: If your partner’s running through town half-dressed with your kid, you’re doing more than losing an argument. You’re likely losing your freedom.
