A quiet morning took a violent turn when a man says his wife woke up swinging, leaving him bloodied, bruised, and desperate to escape.
👊 The Alleged Attack:
The man told deputies his wife punched him in the face and back, then choked him—all while they were still in bed. Fearing for his safety, he fled the home.
When deputies arrived, the man had blood on his face and neck, a cut inside his lip, and visible bruising around his throat. Despite difficulty writing, he gave a full statement, confirmed it was accurate, and said he wanted to press charges. He also revealed this wasn’t the first time—but in the past, he’d backed off once things reached court.
🚗 The Suspect Flees with Child in Tow:
The man said his wife had taken off in a black Ford Mustang convertible—with their child in the car—and was likely hiding out at her mother’s place. Deputies followed up and found the Mustang parked out front.
She was sitting in the driver’s seat when deputies rolled up.
🗣️ Her Side of the Story?
She admitted there was an argument but denied hitting her husband. Instead, she accused him of slapping their child and said she left because she was angry. She also claimed he was hitting himself and making wild accusations about her cheating.
🚔 But the bruises told a different story.
Deputies arrested her on Domestic Violence charges and transported her to the Lawrence County Jail without incident.
👨👩👧 When Kids Are Involved, Stakes Are Higher:
Domestic violence cases where children are present or involved—even peripherally—can escalate quickly and cause lasting trauma. Here’s what to do if you’re in a volatile household:
✅ Call 911 immediately if violence breaks out.
✅ Document injuries and collect any evidence, like messages or photos.
✅ Get a protection order if you feel threatened.
✅ Seek support from domestic violence services, especially when children are in the home.
This case is a powerful reminder that domestic abuse doesn’t always look one way, and men can be victims too. No one should suffer in silence—help is available.
