Drug Dealer Busted Near School

Michael Jenkins was the subject of a drug investigation conducted by officers from the Ironton Police Department, assisted by agents from the Lawrence County Drug Task Force. Agents conducted a controlled purchase of pressed pills of fentanyl from Michael Jenkins in the vicinity of a school.

Immediately after the purchase, officers from Ironton Police Department stopped the car and arrested 23-year-old Michael Jenkins.

Michael was the focus of an ongoing Ironton Drug Unit investigation that lasted for several months, pertaining to fentanyl trafficking that will be submitted to the Grand Jury in the near future.

Michael Jenkins was charged with: Tampering with Evidence, Trafficking in a Fentanyl-related Compound in the vicinity of a School, and Trafficking in Fentanyl in the vicinity of a School. Jenkins was transported and lodged at the Lawrence County Jail.

Police suspect that this is the same type and style of pressed pill that has been involved in overdoses in the county and city.
