Fake Ben Franklin, Real Meth: Officer Spots Counterfeit “Bill” That Wasn’t What It Seemed

What looked like a stray $100 bill on the floor of a convenience store turned out to be the most expensive mistake of the night for one unlucky shopper.

🎥 Caught on Camera

Deputies say they were inside a local gas station when they noticed a crisp-looking hundred lying near the feet of John Dale Larson. A closer look revealed it wasn’t cash at all — it was a tiny Ziploc bag printed to look like money. Inside: several shiny rocks that definitely weren’t sugar crystals.

Security footage rolled back the truth. At 12:04 a.m., another man paid for his snacks with no trouble. Two minutes later, Larson stepped up to the counter, pulled cash from his pocket, and — plop — the phony bill hit the floor. The bag sat there until the officer picked it up a minute later.

💬 “Yeah, That’s Meth”

When the officer stepped outside to ask about the curious find, Larson didn’t put up much of a fight. According to the report, he flat-out admitted it was “meth.” He refused to identify his shopping buddy but confirmed he was living in Ironton. Both men then left the store together.

🧪 The Lab Doesn’t Lie

The suspected substance tested positive for methamphetamine during a field test and will be shipped to the state crime lab for confirmation. Body-cam footage captured the entire exchange.

🚓 Lesson of the Day

If you’re going to drop something on the floor, maybe make sure it’s gum and not a meth-filled Monopoly bill. Larson now faces drug-related charges and a hard truth: sometimes, a fake hundred can cost you a real arrest.
