Portsmouth Police respond to a lot of theft calls, but not many as unusual as one that came in just before midnight on Monday.
A Walnut Street resident contacted officers to report someone made off with her false teeth. She told officers she drank a pint of whiskey and got so sick she had to remove her dentures.
She said she put the teeth in the front pocket of her nightgown and went to sleep. When she woke up, her teeth were missing.

The woman was alone in the house when she fell asleep, so she believed the denture thief had broken in. Officers took information for a report. Police valued the teeth at $320.
