Family Fights Over Sick Loved One’s Belongings at SOMC
The family of a seriously ill patient got into an argument over her possessions at SOMC.
Just after 6:30 pm, witnesses reported the incident to the police and also notified hospital security. Officers learned the dispute started over a purse belonging to a woman who’d been admitted to the ICU.
A woman told officers one of her aunts had taken her ill mother’s purse. However, the aunts said they did not steal the purse, but the woman had told them not to allow the daughter or her family to get their hands on it. The sister who had taken charge of the purse had already left the scene.

Officers were not able to determine if a theft had taken place, but they did advise all parties to calm down for the benefit of all.
