A tragic Saturday at the Royal Inn after officers responded to multiple issues involving drugs.
Just before 8 am, a caller asked police to check on a woman who had previously overdosed. When police arrived on the scene, the woman was not there, but they did discover a woman with an open warrant from Pike County. Police took that woman into custody and transported her to the Pike County Line to hand over to Pike deputies.
At 10:15 am, a caller reported an unresponsive person in a room at the Royal Inn. When officers and medics responded to the scene, EMS confirmed the person was deceased.
Officers took information for a report, and the Scioto County Coroner transported the body to Dayton for further forensic examination.
Later that Day, EMS and officers responded to a Gallia Street apartment for a report that a woman had overdosed. Medics transported the woman to the hospital.
Just after 8 pm, EMS and officers responded to 8th Street for a report of a man overdosing near the train tracks. An ambulance transported him to SOMC.
On Sunday afternoon, a witness reported that a man had overdosed in the parking lot of the Woodbine Apartments. However, he was gone by the time police arrived.
A few minutes later another caller said a woman had left multiple needles in a field behind the apartment complex. Police impounded the syringes for disposal.
