First Responders Come to Aid of Troubled Vet
A veteran’s suicide hotline contacted PPD after they received a call from a local vet having a crisis. The hotline was worried about the vet’s safety and asked officers to do a welfare check.
The vet assured police they were neither suicidal nor homicidal but did request help from the VA hospital in Chillicothe. Medics checked the vet over, and the vet said they would try to get to Chillicothe in the morning for treatment.

Portsmouth Police officers came to the aid of New Boston Police after a suspect took off from officers in the 4000 block of Millbrook.
New Boston and Portsmouth officers searched the area for about half an hour but were unable to locate the suspect.
Break-In Reported on Poplar Street
Just after 11 pm, officers responded to Poplar Street after a report that two men kicked in the door of a home in the 1500 block.
NBPD assisted on the call, but when officers arrived on the scene, they learned it was a misunderstanding. The woman who lived there had gotten locked out, and her baby was crying inside.
Neither the crying baby nor the people beating on the door were enough to wake the child’s sleeping father inside, so the woman had to force entry.
