Deputies came to the rescue of an overdose victim after someone called 911 to report an OD at a Chesapeake apartment. The caller didn’t give their name and hung up the phone.
When officers arrived on the scene, they grabbed Narcan and headed inside. Fortunately, EMS also arrived at the same time.
Deputies discovered an unconscious man who was having trouble breathing. Deputies spotted an open package of Narcan on the kitchen table. Officers believed the 911 caller had attempted to revive the man before taking off. EMS administered Narcan and revived the man.
Officers checked to see if there was anyone else in the apartment. No one was there, but they did discover a container of what appeared to be meth and some foil with heroin inside. Deputies took photos of the scene and collected the drugs. EMS transported the man to the hospital.
Deputies and EMS responded to another overdose call, this time at a Proctorville home. A caller said the man working on his stove had fallen to the floor and was unresponsive.
EMS administered Narcan to revive the man. Deputies discovered a container in the victim’s pocket containing pills and a white powdery substance. Medics transported the man to the hospital. Officers confiscated the suspected drugs, which tested positive for fentanyl and cocaine.
Officers and EMS were called to another unresponsive patient lying on a floor on St. Rt. 243. The caller told dispatch they had already administered Narcan.
When first responders arrived, they administered another dose of Narcan to revive the man. He told them he’d used a whole bag of heroin and felt like he was about to “go down again.” He told officers he needed to return to rehab.
Deputies told him that the QRT could contact him once he received treatment at the hospital. Medics transported him for treatment.
Officers confiscated a baggy with a brown substance inside that tested positive for fentanyl.
