First Responders Save Woman From Overdose
Citizens who weren’t afraid to get involved teamed up with first responders to save a woman from a drug overdose and a recently released inmate terrorizes apartment residents. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
First Responders Save Overdosing Woman
Just before 11 am, a Murray Street caller reported two apparently high people in a black vehicle.
The witness said both people were “messed up” and the man was attempting to pull the woman from the car.
By the time police arrived on the scene, she was in bad shape. Officers say she was unconscious and barely breathing due to having aspirated.
Police removed her from the vehicle and administered Narcan before EMS arrived to take over.
Man Gets Out of Jail and Terrorizes Findlay Manor
Findlay Manor contacted police to report a man who had been barred from the property was back. The guy had just been released from jail after an arrest for criminal trespass and possessing drug abuse instruments.
Police could not locate him.
About an hour later, the man was spotted in the laundry room by a resident and he refused to let her leave the room because cops were after him.
She convinced him she was alone and merely wanted a pop, then contacted police.
A maintenance man told police the unwanted visitor assaulted him and then fled down 15th Street.
Again, police could not locate him.
Vehicle Shot on 21st Street
Just after 12:35 pm, a caller reported that someone shot a hole in the passenger side window of her vehicle on 21st Street.
An officer took pictures of the incident and said it appeared to be from a BB gun. The victim did not see who fired the shot.
Due to the lack of witnesses or evidence, police said they would close the case.
Road Rage at Goodwill
Just before 2pm, a caller reported another driver kept ramming him after an accident at Goodwill on Robinson and that he was en route to the police station because he was too afraid to stay on the scene.
Police arriving on the scene found a wrecked SUV at Goodwill and took the driver into custody. They arranged to have the vehicle towed.
