First responders did their best to come to the aid of a veteran in crisis. Just after 5 am, a caller told officers they had just come from a veteran’s home, and the man had threatened to take his own life. They told police the man suffered from PTSD and that he also had a weapon on him.
PPD, Ohio State Patrol Troopers, Scioto County Sheriff’s Officers, Pike County Sheriff’s Deputies, and New Boston Police began a search for the man. Officers searched an area near the flood wall where they were told the man liked to go.
Officers also checked with friends, the veteran’s workplace, and other locations in an attempt to find the troubled man without success.
