Gus Rulen Bennett, Jr., 90, of Minford, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 at SOMC Hospice. He was born July 1, 1935 in Sciotoville, a son of the late Gus Rulen, Sr. and Addie Mae (Scaggs) Bennett. Gus was a prison guard at Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by one daughter, Carla (Ray) Twinam; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Heather) Twinam, Stephanie (Kevin) Carter, Paula (David) Richard, Matthew Bennett, Scottie Bennett, Jr.; ten great grandchildren, Darian Carter, Hunter Twinam, Makenzie Carter, Laney Richard, Paisley Twinam, Jayden Carter, Avery Richard, Collin Bennett, Gentry Bennett, Aiden Bennett; a special daughter, Kelly Curless, and one brother, Gary Bennett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Bennett on July 30, 2025, and three siblings, Helen Williams, Alma Jackson, and Nannie Skaggs.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2025 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Bernie Twinam officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from Noon to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
