We’ve told you about multiple cases of small children found wandering the streets, and it’s happened again, this time in Rarden.
Around 11:30 p.m., a woman called to advise that a child wearing only a pull-up showed up at her door. The woman said the child wasn’t talking and there were no adults in the area. She brought the child inside for safekeeping while she waited for officers.
Officers determined the non-verbal child might belong to a family down the road and attempted to make contact with the parents. When they located the parents, they warned them if the child was found wandering again, they would be charged with child endangerment.
Two nights later, just before 2 a.m., the child turned up again at the woman’s house. Again, the child wore only a pull-up.
Deputies contacted CPS, who sent a caseworker to speak to the parents. CPS arranged for a family member to take emergency custody of the child. It took the family member almost three hours to make it there, but the child was finally placed around 5 a.m.
