Helen Barnett, age 99 went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. She was born December 25, 1923, the daughter of the late Hubert and Dolly (Rapp) Estep.
She retired from Williams Manufacturing Company and was a founding member of Stockdale Baptist Church. She was faithful to God and read her bible daily. She made her home at The Minford Retirement Center prior to entering BridgePort Healthcare Center in Portsmouth where she spent her last 4 years.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Glenn Baird of New Port Richey, FL. She was a loving mother to her children and worked hard all her life to provide and care for them.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Barnett, her only son, Roy Eugene, and daughter-in-law, Gail Barnett, four brothers, Kenneth, Cecil, Chrissie, and Chester Estep, and one sister, Kathryn Burchett.
She was Mamaw, Grandma, and Granny to four grandchildren, Barry Barnett, Kelly (Carl) Schmitt, Kristal Reich, and Tara (Tom) Reik; six great-grandchildren, Travis Barnett, Leslie Hopper, Addison and Sidney Schmitt, Kyler and Kennedy Delong, and four great great grandchildren, Carson and Camrie Hopper, Mason Barnett, and Anthony Miracle.
She also is survived by two sisters, Doris Bobst and Peggy Sowards whom she loved dearly as well as many nieces and nephews, and a very special former granddaughter-in-law and family friend, Luanne (Mitchell) Bryans.
Her daughter would like to thank the nurses and staff at Bridgeport Healthcare, Advanced 360, and National Church Residences for the kind and compassionate care she was given.
Our hearts are broken as we try to find the strength to live our lives without you. Although you will not be by our side, you will forever remain in our hearts. We will think of you daily as we cherish the memories we have.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2023, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Elder Greg Sowards and Pastor Kevin Greene officiating and a special reading by Phil Howard. Burial will be in Owl Creek Cemetery.
