Helen E Evans, a lifelong resident of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024, at the age of 84. She was born on January 31, 1939, in Portsmouth, a town she cherished and called home throughout her entire life.
Helen dedicated 25 years of her life as a cook in the Portsmouth City School District, ensuring that countless students were nourished with her culinary creations.
Helen’s love for her family was immeasurable. She found joy in spending time with her loved ones, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Whether it was solving word puzzles together, embarking on adventurous travels, or enjoying the serenity of camping trips, Helen’s presence enriched every moment.
In Helen’s journey through life, she was preceded in death by her parents, Deward and Della Morris, her son Delbert Evans, Jr., her brothers Deward Jr. and Robert Morris, her sister Mary Roland, and her daughter-in-law Francis Evans. Though their absence is deeply felt, the memories of their time together will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved them.
Helen’s memory will forever be cherished by her beloved husband, Delbert Evans Sr., her son Ronald Evans of Sugar Grove/West Portsmouth, and her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and James Pennington of Chillicothe. She will also be lovingly remembered by her sister, Fannie Groo of Cleveland, and her six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
In honoring Helen’s memory, her family invites relatives and friends to visitation on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 12 Noon to 1:00 PM.

Helen will be laid to rest in Memorial Burial Park, Wheelersburg, OH.
