You may not know it, but the Portsmouth City Manager holds a conference after City Council Meetings to talk about what’s going on the agenda for the next Council Meeting. These meetings are where they talk about what’s going on and what issues require the council’s attention.
So, what’s on the agenda for discussion on November 27? Let’s break it down.
- A discussion on whether new facilities will require 1 or 2 courtrooms. An important item since that affects the cost of building and also how quickly cases can be processed.
- Mound Park updates are also on the agenda. Hilltop residents have been very concerned about the condition of the park’s facilities and crime plaguing the area. Just the other day we told you about a stash of dirty needles that turned up in the park.
- The third item up for discussion is blighted housing. A glance at Portsmouth Police reports tells you that the issue is not only a problem because it lowers property values and encourages pests but also due to the incredible amount of crime that happens in vacant housing. What can the city do to fix it?
The City Manager’s Conference is always available live on Facebook right after the 6 pm City Council meeting.
