Officers investigated several incidents involving issues with homeless people.
The owner of a Robinson Avenue building called the police to report someone kept breaking in and stripping the wiring from their building. They also complained that homeless campers had set up housekeeping behind the building.
When officers arrived on the scene, they spotted tents set up in the wooded area behind the building. They said there were signs that multiple people were staying there.
Police said no one was inside the building. Officers said they would return when the tent was occupied and advise the campers to move on.
A Gallia Street resident flagged down officers around 5 pm to report homeless people camping under an overpass. However, when officers checked the scene, they said the campers appeared to have left. Officers were called back to the overpass later for a report of a man in filthy clothes hanging over the side of the overpass.
When police spoke to him, he said he was extremely hot and just wanted to rest for a bit. Officers sent for an ambulance, but the man refused medical attention.
The owner of a Chillicothe Street business called the police at 10 am to report that homeless people had left a mess on her property. Officers arrived on the scene and took information for a criminal damaging report.
Officers were called back to the Robinson Street building after a caller reported people doing drugs in the area. Police spoke with the homeless campers behind the building and advised them to gather their things and leave the area.
Police responded to the Dash Thru at 1:47 pm for a report of a homeless man who refused to leave the property. Witnesses said he was rude and disrespectful. Officers spoke to the man and he agreed to leave.
