Homeless Crisis Leads to Pups Being Taken by Animal Control
Two dogs are in need of a new home after an incident on Sunday. Concerned citizens contacted Portsmouth Police to report dogs locked inside a gray car on Glover Street.
When officers responded to the scene, the owner of the animals said she left them in the vehicle overnight because her daughter did not want the animals in her home. The woman said she no longer wanted the dogs and agreed to surrender them to animal control. Officials say the woman was homeless and living out of her vehicle, and was unable to care for the dogs.
Officers asked the woman to please feed and water the animals while they waited for animal control to respond to the scene.
Police noted that the pups’ names were Little Girl and Bear. Animal control took custody of the dogs a couple of hours later.
