Joseph William Sparks, 31, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Friday, August 19, 2022, at SOMC in Portsmouth. He was born September 14, 1990, in Adrian, MI to Steven Sparks Jr. and Deborahann (Curry) Red.
Joey was a 2008 graduate of Green High School. He was the kindest soul and would give you the shirt off his back. He loved to fish, cook, and listening to music and understanding the lyrical meaning to the songs. Most of all, he loved being a father.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Curry, and a step-grandfather, Mike Kokas.
Joey is survived by his parents, Steven Sparks Jr., of Buckeye, AZ, and Debbie Red (Frank) of Ironton, his children; Jenna, Madison, Autumn, Graelyn, and Clayton Sparks, all of Franklin Furnace, and a sister, Nichole Rhea (Josh) of Wheelersburg, and his nephews and niece, Jeremiah, Jaxson, and Jessica Rhea.
He is also survived by his grandparents, Mildred Kokas of Adrian, MI, and Steven and Nancy Sparks of Arizona City, AZ.
A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth. Burial will follow at Haverhill Cemetery in Haverhill. A visitation for friends and family will be on Saturday, from 11:00 A.M., until the time of service at 1:00 P.M.
