Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Roberts, 80, of Ironton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, in his room at Edgewood Manor. Born on May 15, 1944, in Baltimore, MD, Kenny lived a life full of family, humor, and a relentless passion for capturing life’s moments.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Kathy Roberts; his sons, Kenny, Mikey, and Nick Roberts; and his cherished grandchildren: Dylan, Cody, Logan, Kaycie, Remi, and AJ Roberts. His brother, Mike Roberts, shares in the joy of remembering a lifetime of stories and laughs.
Kenny loved cars and all things mechanical. If it moved, rolled, or needed a tune-up, Kenny could fix it-and if he couldn’t, you probably didn’t need it fixed. After retiring from Dawson-Bryant Local Schools, where he worked as a dedicated maintenance specialist, Kenny continued to tinker and troubleshoot anything that crossed his path.
But perhaps what Kenny will be remembered for most is his role as “the man behind the camera.” No family event, sporting match, or school play was complete without Kenny in the background, camcorder in hand, ensuring every laugh, cheer, and heartfelt moment was preserved forever. His love for his family came through in every frame, often paired with his signature chuckle or sly commentary. If you didn’t see him at the event, you could be sure you’d see yourself later-in full detail-on the footage.
Kenny’s love for his family knew no bounds. His face would light up whenever a grandchild walked into the room, and his actions spoke louder than words ever could. His work ethic, confidence, and ability to show his love in quiet yet profound ways made him the anchor of his family.
Kenny will be cremated at F.C. Daehler in Portsmouth, Ohio. A graveside ceremony will be held this spring at Caroline Cemetery in Raceland, KY, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate his life.
Kenny’s legacy is captured not just in the countless home movies he created but in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the memories he helped make. He showed us how to love through actions, how to laugh in the face of challenges, and how to find beauty in the simple, everyday moments of life.
As his family gathers to celebrate Kenny’s life this spring, they will undoubtedly be reminded of his unwavering presence, his humor, and his knack for making everyone feel seen-whether through the lens of his camera or the kindness of his heart.
Kenny Wayne Roberts leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and perfectly-timed expletives. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the stories told, the films replayed, and the lives he made better simply by being himself.
