Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a report of a kid left home alone for weeks with no food in the house. It all started when a teacher at an area middle school contacted officers, saying a student told her his mom left town with a new boyfriend and that there was no food in the home.
She said she’d contacted CPS about the allegations, but nobody had followed up on the complaint.
When deputies headed to the home, they found a teen and two other kids home alone. The older boy told officers he was watching the kids while their mom was at work and that everything was fine and there was plenty to eat.
While a deputy attempted to contact the mother, school personnel showed up at the home. An officer and the school employees headed to the mother’s workplace to speak to her.
There is no further information in the police logs. SCDN will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as we are able to obtain them.
