Just after 3 pm, a Wilson Street caller told Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies that three loose dogs came to his Wilson Street home (near Perry’s Pizza Barn) and killed 28 chickens and a turkey.
The animals were in an enclosed pen, and how the dogs got in remains a bit of a mystery. The owners posted the picture featured in the headline and a Facebook Livestream showing the carnage.
The man said the Dog Warden had seized the dogs but refused to give him any information on the owners and told him to file a report with the Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies spoke to the dog warden, she said the animals’ owner was coming to pick them up at the pound and said he had agreed to pay for the damages. The owner was cited for failure to confine.
Deputies passed the information on to the man and told him that if the dog owner didn’t pay up, he could sue him in civil court.
