Just before 10 pm, a call came into 911 reporting a man had burns to his face and nose on St. Rt. 140.
Portsmouth Ambulance responded to the scene and then requested dispatch check for an air ambulance.
Air Evac said their closest chopper was in Brown County and 40 minutes away. They later declined to file due to the weather.
Deputies requested a driver from the Porter FD to assist the squad, and the victim was transported to the hospital.
The police report did not state how the man was burned.
