A local church contacted Portsmouth Police when one of the recipients got angry and cussed them out. They told officers they thought the man might be drunk.
When police arrived at the church, they spotted a man with a history of alcohol abuse, though they said he didn’t appear to be drinking that day. The man seemed to be angry because he was having difficulty carrying the box of groceries they’d provided him.
Officers said the man kept yelling and cussing and instigated an argument with someone else before leaving the scene.
