Man Dies After Being Found In Street
A man died after being discovered unconscious in the street and a couple accused their landlord of stealing their truck. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Suspicious Activity
Police were called to the Speedway at 7 am for a report of a man cussing out employees because they refused to cash his lottery ticket due to the lack of a bar code. He left before the police arrived.
Car Hits 9th Street House
A vehicle ran into a 9th Street home just after 8 am. Officers notified PMHA about damage to the home, City Services about damage to a street sign, and sewer maintenance about damage to the manhole at 9th and Grimes.
Police also took information for a report.
Landlord Accused of Stealing Vehicle
A woman contacted police to claim that her former landlord stole her husband’s vehicle.
The landlord explained that his former tenants left the vehicle behind when they moved and that police advised him to have it removed from his property by a tow company. The vehicle was now located at the tow company.
The woman was not pleased to hear that information. The landlord claimed the couple stole a new furnace and damaged the inside of the property. Police advised the landlord it was a civil matter.
The landlord called back at 11:30 am to report a neighbor told him the couple was attempting to gain entry to the property.
It turned out to be new prospective tenants instead of the previous ones.
Siblings Rivalry Turns Violent
A 4th Street Neighbor complained about an adult and child arguing downstairs. Police transported a male and female juvenile to the police station.
Officers called EMS personnel to check 2 juveniles because the boy was stabbed by a girl.
Their mother arrived about an hour and a half later.
Under the Influence
A Mabert Road caller contacted MS just before noon to report he thought he had a blood infection due to taking bad meth.
Parking Problems
An attempt by Code Enforcement to remove a Dodge Durango and Camper from a Mabert Road Address got complicated.
The Code Enforcement officer advised of a disturbance and asked for police backup. An officer detained a man with a warrant who was in medical distress. PFD transported him to the hospital then police took him into custody and transported him to the Scioto County Jail.
Code Enforcement Towed the vehicle.
Mad Dies After Being Found In Road
A man died after being discovered unresponsive in the roadway at 14th and Waller.
EMS personnel attempted to revive the man and took him to SOMC where he was declared dead.
Family members said he was dealing with a variety of health issues.
