A man on probation for stealing vehicles made off with a tractor on Sunday, but he didn’t get far.
Just after 7 pm, a resident of Henley Comstock Road called 911 to report that someone had stolen his orange tractor.
Officers spotted the orange tractor head down the road and into a field. Deputies pursued the man on foot, but he ended up wrecking the tractor.
Deputies said it was no longer drivable, and there was no way to get it out of the field.
Officers arrested Charles Scoggins for theft, failure to comply, criminal damaging, and probation violation.
Scoggins was arrested Grand Theft Auto in February on 2023 and again in July of 2024. He was sentenced to three years’ probation for the 2023 charge, but that was revoked after he was arrested for stealing a vehicle and breaking and entering over the summer.
