A couple who tried to help a man struggling with addiction were rewarded for their efforts by having the troubled man shoot up their camper.
A woman called 911 at 2 am to report that a man was outside her camper threatening to fight her and her boyfriend. When the man realized they’d called 911, he threw a bottle at their camper and then fired a gun.
She explained that the suspect was struggling with drug addiction, and they’d allow him to stay with them. The group had gone out earlier in the evening, and the couple had refused to buy the man a drink due to his issues. He became angry and threatened to shoot and kill them.
The pair told the man that he needed to leave if he was going to make threats and that he needed to get help for his addiction.
Shortly after that, the suspect’s former girlfriend called 911 to report he’d awakened her with a call saying he’d just shot up his friends’ camper and was going to prison.
She suggested he get help for his drug addiction, and he threatened to kill her and her family. She’d gathered her family together and fled their home. She said the man had stayed with her and her family at one time.
Officers took information for a report, but so far no additional charges have been filed against the man in court.
