Man Wants Boyfriend Committed For Cussing

cussing

A man wanted his boyfriend committed for cussing (he used the Lord’s name in vain), a caller worried about a dangerously thin disabled man, and the police answered several calls involving overdoses. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Suspicious Activity

Under The Influence

Disturbing the Peace

Officers once again answered a call to a 5th Street residence for a report of college students partying loudly. Police took one man into custody and said they could contact SSU to report the many disturbances at the address.

Suspect Threatens To Shoot Up Hospital

Just before 4 am, an employee of SOMC reported a person threatened to shoot up the hospital. The hospital provided the address of the possible suspect to the police. Officers took information for a report.

Asleep at the Wheel

Man Wants Boyfriend Committed For Cussing

Officers responded to an argument over taking the Lord’s name in vain just before 9 am on 17th Street. Police said a man complained his partner was saying “God damned” repeatedly. He wanted to send the cursing man to the hospital.

Officers said the other half of the pair seemed to be in sound mind and did not require any type of medical or mental evaluation. Police advised the man not to call the police for disagreements over cursing.

Welfare Check

Police responded to a request for a welfare check on a 21-year-old developmentally disabled man at 10 am. A caller saw the man out with his father and thought he looked too thin as if he had not been eating.

Police said the young man was indeed thin but seemed in good spirits. The man’s parents said authorities had been called before by the same person and that there’d been an investigation. They said their doctor can testify that he just happens to have a very high metabolism.

No Place To Go?

Police responded to Spartan Stadium at 1 pm for a report of a pregnant teen who said her grandmother kicked her out and she had no place to go.

The grandmother said the teen has a mental disability and the allegations were simply not true. She claimed the girl was supposed to be at a friend’s house.

Police reported the situation to CPS who said they would follow up.

Move Along

Police received a request from a Gallia Street business to keep panhandlers away from the property. Officer advised the man to stay away.

Family Feud

A brother and sister whose fight frequently brings out the police were at it again at 2:19 pm. Officers responded to the Woodbine Apartments and calmed down the situation.

However, they were at it again at 4 pm. The sister went to a neighbor’s to cool down and the brother said she was in a bad mood because she hadn’t gotten high yet that day.

Police were back at the home at 9:49 pm for more arguing. They offered to send for an ambulance but the pair refused.
