Multiple local law enforcement agencies teamed up with the Ohio Highway Patrol to track down a suspect who fled from officers after a high-speed chase on St. Rt. 823.
At times, the chase reached speeds of over 120 MPH. It all started when OSP tried to pull the vehicle over for a traffic stop when the driver failed to stay in his lane.
The chase initiated north of Lucasville, went down State Rt. 823, then spilling onto 140 and coming to an unexpected stop just under the train bridge in Sciotoville. Once police located the vehicle, they realized that both of the men had taken off on foot.
Officers spotted him walking behind houses along the river bank. Troopers, Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies, and Portsmouth Police searched the creek, and dispatch notified the railroad to stop all traffic while officers searched the area of the tracks.
New Boson Police also assisted. A caller contacted 911 to report he had spotted the man near Wolford’s Landing. A deputy caught up with the suspect on Front Street and turned the suspect over to OSP.
OSP booked Jermaine Lucas into the Scioto County Jail for failure to comply with police and parole violation.
Lucas was listed as a potentially armed and dangerous parolee at large by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections after a conviction in Lucas County for attempted felonious assault.
Jerry Chambliss was booked into the jail on charges of drug possession.
