Christmas turned dangerous for a Portsmouth woman after a masked intruder shot her. The call came in about 6 pm. She said a stranger in a mask came into her 14th Street apartment and shot her with some type of handgun.
Officers got permission to search several nearby apartments and obtained a warrant to search another. However, they did not locate the suspect. PMHA resecured the door to an apartment after the search. The police report did not indicate the condition of the woman who was shot.
A few hours later, officers detained a man at gunpoint in the same area. They arrested Jerimiah Bishop for a probation violation and impounded a firearm.

Police have not said whether or not Bishop’s arrest was connected to the shooting.
