Missing Child Located: Portsmouth Police Reports
Officers helped locate a missing child and police responded to multiple domestic disputes. We break down the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Child Wandering Alone
At 12:43 pm, a caller reported a young boy running around alone on Cypress Street. However, the child’s mother, who was looking for him, found him before police arrived and no officers were needed.
Loose Dog on Timmonds
Timmonds Avenue callers reported a stray dog in their yard that they feared might be aggressive.
The officer said the dog appeared friendly and allowed officers to pet him., He seemed to be interested in the female dog in the yard next door, who was in heat.
Police contacted animal control who said they would follow up on the dog in a few days.
Domestic Dispute
- At 1:30 pm, a Thomas Avenue caller reported a man attempting to kick in the front door of the apartment. Police advised the feuding couple, who agreed to let the man’s mother pick up his stuff.
- Just before 5 pm, a Farley Court woman contacted police to report that her boyfriend came for a visit and refused to leave the apartment. She had a protection order against him at one time, but they had recently gotten back together. The woman said she planned to get another protection order against him. Police advised the parties.
- Officers responded to Gallia Street to a report of a man and woman arguing in the lot of Larry Moore Sporting Goods. The woman told police the man had threatened to harm himself. Officers advised both parties.
Stealing From Family
A 17th Street resident contacted police at 2:48 pm to report that family members stole his money. Police took a man into custody at the scene and transported him to jail.
Under the Influence
Just after 3:30 pm, police discovered a man slumped against the Payless Shoes building on Gallia. Officers took the man into custody.
Missing Child Found
A man contacted police at 5:37 pm to report he thought he knew where his missing son was located. He thought the boy would be in a Dodge Journey.
Police spoke with the Juvenile Court and police retrieved the boy and transported him to the police station.
Unwanted Guests
The owner of a 3rd Street home asked police to check on a woman who was staying in an apartment belonging to a tenant who had been arrested. Police told the owner to contact them if he spots her.
