Police found a missing Kentucky woman and helped a dad with dementia. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Under The Influence
- A caller reported an apparently high woman wandering around near the Big Sandy Superstore on 10th Street at 11:16 am. Police said the woman told them she was going to walk, pray and contact her counselor. Officers said the behavior was not out of the ordinary for the woman, with whom they have frequent contact.
- A Mabert Avenue caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a known drug house at 11:33 am. Police said there was no one in the vehicle and no one answered the door of the home when they knocked.
Bloody Vehicle Searched
Police served a search warrant on a vehicle at the impound lot just after 1 pm. Officers collected several swabs of suspected blood and a red hoodie that appeared to have blood on it from the car.
Police also discovered a set of keys in the passenger seat.
Teen Runaway Escapes Through Bathroom Window
Officers were on the hunt for a juvenile who went out a bathroom window. Police checked multiple locations with the child’s father but were unable to find the girl.
Missing Person Found at Boundary Street Apartment
Officers uncovered the location of a missing woman when they responded to a report of people arguing at the Saint Charles Place Apartments on Boundary Street.
One woman initially gave police a false name due to having open warrants in Kentucky. Police didn’t find any open warrants, but they did discover the was an active missing person out of Ashland Kentucky.
Officers notified Kentucky State Police that they’d located her.
Troubled Woman Keeps Police Busy
A troubled woman with whom police have daily contact raised a ruckus on Gallia Street. Just before 1 am, police responded to reports of her standing on a porch yelling.
The residents of the home said she had all of her property and no reason to be at the home. She left before police arrived but returned fifteen minutes later and started yelling again.
Once again, she left before the police arrived.
Dad with Dementia Wanders Off
A worried 3rd Street daughter contacted police to report that her father with dementia had wandered off.
Police located the man on 4th Street. He told an officer he was lost and cold. Police returned him home.
Disturbing the Peace
Uncooperative witnesses made it almost impossible for police to investigate a 3 am disturbance on Park Avenue.
The initial report was of a group of people outside arguing. When officers arrived on the scene, they noted one woman had scratch marks on her face, but she said no one was hurt and she didn’t want to press charges.
The incident apparently started when two fires were flattened on her brother’s vehicle. Two women on the scene advised they were assaulted but didn’t want to give details or press charges.
The vehicle matched the description of a vehicle observed recklessly fleeing the scene earlier. However, witnesses refused to cooperate.
