If the police reports from Tuesday and Wednesday are any indication, people are really starting to get on each other’s nerves during Ohio’s stay-at-home orders. Quite a few parents turned for police help with unruly kids. Included in the mix was a mom who called the cops on a 7-year-old for cussing.

Police also handled an exploding purse, a flock of ducks, and an errant basketball. Check out the highlights in our slideshow. If you’d like to check out the unfiltered version of the police reports, consider becoming a VIP Member of SCDN. Click here to learn how it works.

1

Where’s My Stuff?

  • Police were called to a Mabert Road home just after 1 am on Tuesday for a report of missing money. But they were unable to make contact with the reporting party.
  • At 8:42 pm, police were called to the Marathon on the Scioto Trail. An employee reported that a man came in and stole her phone. They caught him on camera sliding it into his pocket. Police took a report.
  • At 10:15 pm, police were called out to 6th Street on what was initially believed to be a burglary. It turned out she was just annoyed because her son was being loud and keeping her awake.

Domestic Disputes

Tuesday

  • A woman called police at 4:23 am on Tuesday to report her husband had physically assaulted her on Oakland Crescent.  She later told police it was a verbal argument and refused to say if it had turned physical.  She told officers she just wanted the man to leave.  He went to work.
  • Just after 6 pm, a Thomas Avenue woman informed officers her boyfriend had struck her. Police took information for a report.

Wednesday

  • Officers were called to 17th Street just after midnight. A reported her teenage daughter had assaulted her. The 15-year-old was transported to SOMC.
  • A man came to the aid of his sister just before 3 am. He reported that there was a man who was refusing to leave her Thomas Avenue apartment. Officers detained the man. The fire department checked him out. Turns out he had a warrant. But once he calmed down, police issued a summons and let him go.
  • A woman called police just after noon to report her 7-year-old was cussing at her. Officers advised her about the differences between discipline and abuse. They suggested she contact the juvenile court to file charges if the problem persists.
  • Just before 3 pm, officers were called to Coolidge Avenue for a report of teenager putting her face through a window. She’d apparently been arguing with her mother overfeeding a younger sibling. The teen began beating her own head against the window. The girl cut her face.  She told officers she wasn’t trying to harm herself. She was just frustrated.
  • At 4:44, the police responded to an argument on Rhulman. A man and woman were fighting, but the woman said she didn’t want help and didn’t want to talk to the police.
