The New Boston Police Department is looking for a few good men and women to apply to their police force.
The starting pay is $16.24 per hour, though officers with two years of full-time experience would get $16.59 and those with three would receive $16.92. Officers receive overtime for any hours over 80 worked in a pay period and the Village will make a 50% contribution to the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund. The Village’s website estimates that officers receive around $3,500 per year in overtime pay.
Applicants must live in Scioto County or the surrounding area have a high school diploma or GED. A college degree is preferred. Applicants must also have a valid OPOTA Peace Officer Certificate and a valid driver’s license. The village does not accept out-of-state training certificates.
Applicants will also have to pass a medical and psychological exam and complete a one-year probationary period.
The village reminds applicants that the department operates 24 hours a day all year round, including holidays.
Things that disqualify a candidate include a poor driving record, felony convictions, domestic violence or protection order violation convictions, misdemeanor convictions for stalking, violence, drugs, or a drunk driving conviction.
